American Woodmark Corporation (AWC) is one of the world’s largest cabinet manufacturers, headquartered in Winchester, VA.
On average, they produce an astounding 41,000 cabinets per day across more than 550 design packages.
Specializing in made-to-order and stock kitchen and bath cabinetry, AWC manufactures across multiple locations and ships directly to builders, distributors, and major brands like Home Depot and Lowe’s.
Guided by their commitment to “do what is right, always,” AWC is a two-time recipient of the JD Power #1 in Customer Satisfaction Award.
This level of recognition is built on delivering products that consistently satisfy customers.
The support cables must be properly tensioned to prevent wind damage. If cables are too loose, they can cause unwanted wind vibration. Over-tensioning can place cables under maximum load and lead to failure.
Anduril needed a small, lightweight, and simple method for measuring tension.
AWC successfully implemented the Tensitron STX-1 tension meter at its headquarters and later recommended the STX-1 across all other locations. The STX-1 enabled AWC to establish a standard target strap tension.
Once in use, the quantified strap tension process—combined with upgraded strap-machine technology—resolved the issue. The STX-1 now gives AWC a reliable way to check strap tension before shipping, leading to stronger process control and improved customer satisfaction.
