Recommended max diameters: Low-tension and standard models measure solid copper wire up to 12 AWG (2 mm), solid steel wire up to 0.04 in. (1 mm), stranded steel cable up to 7×19: 5/32 in. (4 mm), and 7×7: 1/8 in. (3 mm). Wide models measure solid copper wire up to 6 AWG (4 mm), solid steel wire up to 0.08 in. (2 mm), and stranded steel cable up to 7×19: 1/4 in. (6 mm).
