Toho Water Authority (TWA) is the largest provider of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services in Osceola County, Florida. They continually pursue excellence in responsible water-supply stewardship and serve over 100,000 customers in Kissimmee, Poinciana, and unincorporated areas of the county.
TWA owns and operates 13 water plants and 8 wastewater plants. With a workforce of 300+ people, the authority treats and distributes about 37.5 million gallons of potable water daily and reclaims 27 million gallons of wastewater each day.
To connect these sites, TWA operates approximately 500 remote stations that send data in real time. Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems manage these stations.
Several Rohn guy-wire-supported towers are part of the infrastructure used to connect data to facilities, and TWA uses 7/10 Alumoweld cables to anchor and balance the towers.
The SCADA division was performing maintenance on the guy-wires and needed a method to test cable tension to maintain proper balance in each tower.
They needed a solution that could provide easy, accurate tension control while improving safety and consistency during cable installation and maintenance.
With Tensitron and the CX-2000-1, TWA was able to send in a cable sample and have the meter calibrated to their specific tension points. They used it to replace old guy-wires and recheck newer ones.
TWA now uses the CX-2000-1 for annual cable testing. During hurricane preparation, the meter is especially useful for confirming that guy-wires on each tower are at the correct tension.
The reliability and performance of the CX-2000-1 are critical to TWA’s operations.
The Tensitron CX-2000-1 is available in several models, with tension ranges from 20 to 2,000 lb, and is delivered custom-calibrated for your application.
