Proper tension and tension balance are essential. Excessive tension can cause inner wires to cut into each other and create electrical shorts, while under-tensioning can lead to kinks and bulges in completed wires.
The Tensitron LX-50-1 tension meter is used when producing larger wires. The process begins as workers twist the inner wires and required components. Each wire may contain anywhere from 2 to 27 inners. After wrapping, the tension is tested.
Once proper tension is achieved, the cable enters the jacketing machine, which adds insulation and protection for the inner wires.
